The Liverpool x Nike Air Max 95 couldn’t have come at a better time, really. Not only does it celebrate the 30th birthday of the Air Max 95, it also marks a farewell of sorts between the storied Premier League club and the American sportswear giant, who will be ending their five-year kit sponsorship deal at the close of this current season. (Last month, Liverpool announced Adidas will take over as their uniform supplier in August.)
Nikeâs five-year partnership with Liverpool has seen some real highsâboth in terms of shirt designs and on-pitch performanceâwith the club winning four trophies in that time and currently on-pace to win its first Premiership title since the 2019-20 season. This sneaker drop, subtly doused in Scouse colors, marks a cordial parting of ways for the two entities.
Working on top of a breezy black mesh base, this sneaker is equipped with suede panels across the sidewalls that fade from a dark charcoal to a light gray. Red accents hit the eyelets and Air Max branding, and down south, the sizable midsole is fitted with a series of Air bubbles (they’re supposed to be add more comfort, but they’re also the main feature of this cult sneak).
LFC could’ve plastered their badge everywhere and made it obvious that this was their collab. But instead, they’ve made it super wearable, to the point that even if you weren’t a fan you could still rock these without much drama. That said, if you look behind the tongue, you’ll find the team’s classic Liver Bird, and the insole is stitched with Liverpool’s tagline: You’ll Never Walk Alone.
