University of Texas at Austin Studio Art MFA Program Invites Fall 2025 Applications

The University of Texas at Austin’s Studio Art MFA program is a multidisciplinary environment based on the individual interests of our graduate students, an ecosystem that promotes intellectual curiosity, visual acuity, and direct engagement with the larger world. Working within well-equipped facilities, graduate students explore the parameters, depths, and overlaps of various disciplines, discovering applications to new and traditional modes of expression while simultaneously examining links between art and the world.

Professionally active faculty, knowledgeable technical staff, a robust visiting artist and critic program, summer residency partnerships, and the tremendous research facilities housed at the University of Texas at Austin underpin a rigorous studio-intensive program. This is a fast-paced, full-time two-year program that takes extensive advantage of UT’s physical, technical, and intellectual resources. Students can choose to work in-depth in a particular area or across any of our five disciplines: Painting + Drawing, Photography + Media, Print, Sculpture + Extended Media, and Transmedia.

Between tuition waivers, scholarships, insurance, and/or teaching assistantships, our program offers a minimum package valued at $35,900 per year to all graduate students. This package covers all tuition expenses and includes a minimum gross stipend of $21,500 per year. MFA graduate students also receive their own studio space housed in the art building.

Join us at our Virtual Open House for Prospective Applicants on Wednesday, November 6, from 6 to 7pm (CT). Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the program, the department, and the university; meet faculty, staff, and current students; and ask questions about the program and application process.
