Kashima sofa by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset

Dezeen Showroom: the English Chesterfield is given a modern update in the Kashima sofa, a classic designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset.

Originally created in 1976 and reissued with technical enhancements in 2023, the Kashima sofa has been dubbed the “comfortable Chesterfield” because of the way its quilted design evokes the buttoned backrest of the traditional English sofa.

The Kashima sofa has been dubbed the “comfortable Chesterfield”

Its comfort comes from its all-foam construction, which involves four different densities of foam, each clad in a polyester quilting.

According to Ligne Roset, it is the most elaborate all-foam sofa in its range, and the use of high-density foams gives it long-lasting durability.

A nest-like seat with integrated armrests, lumbar support and headrest further add to the sofa’s comforting embrace.

The Kashima sofa is available in multiple configurations, meaning there is an option for every size of space, and Ligne Roset offers it in a choice of 24 upholstery options.
