One of many wonderful things about “light-jacket season”—otherwise known as men’s favorite time of year—is that its stipulations are entirely variable. What does a light jacket mean to you? It could be a nylon windbreaker, or a jean jacket, or a chore coat. Or, if you’re fashion maverick Justin Bieber, it could be a technically perfect canvas bomber jacket from Prada.
This week, JB headed to lunch in West Hollywood wearing an extremely Bieberian take on the mid-season ensemble. Underneath the navy canvas Prada jacket, which featured a big, teddy-bear-brown sheep shearing collar, he layered a candy-pink hoodie under a gray quarter-zip sweatshirt. He wore his usual huge shoes (this time, steel-toed derbies from the Los Angeles label 424) and even huger pants (ultra-wide-legged jeans by Balenciaga), and added a pair of silver mirrored sunglasses.
“Justin Bieber in one of the most serious Prada jackets I’ve ever seen what the hell is going on?” the stylist Kim Russell wrote on X. “This silhouette is so perfect.”
As to Russell’s point of whatever the hell is going on, I can answer only in regards to Justin Bieber’s style when I say that the man simply has great taste in outerwear. And if there’s any time to get on his level when it comes to wearing freaky jackets, still-chilly springtime is as good as any.
