Hone Your Artistic Development With a 2025 Residency at Banff Centre


Visual Arts – Kapishkum: Métis Gathering
Deadline: January 29, 2025 | Program Dates: June 2–July 4, 2025

This residency will facilitate discussion and artistic expression within the context of Métis resilience, reclamation, revitalization, and transcendence. Participants will join celebrated Métis faculty mentors Jason Baerg, Marjorie Beaucage, Daphne Boyer, Liz Barron, and David Garneau to produce a nurturing, collaborative, critical, and productive environment. In addition to access to world-class facilities and technical support, participants can build community with their artistic peers within the spectacular natural landscape of Banff National Park, Minihrpa, Treaty 7 territory.


Early Career Banff Artist in Residence Summer 2025
Deadline: February 26, 2025 | Program Dates: July 21–August 22, 2025

The Early Career Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) Summer 2025 is an immersive program of studio practice, creative exploration, critical feedback, and mentorship for visual artists and curators in the early stages of their careers working in all visual arts mediums.

Led by esteemed faculty Jerry Ropson and Tak Pham, this program combines the artistic freedom of a self-directed residency with the benefits of technical and faculty support. In addition to having the space to create, research, and experiment, participants are part of a community of emerging artists committed to developing and expanding their practice.


Indigenous Arts – Aknumustiǂis: Ecological Engagement Through the Seasons 2025
Deadline: May 7, 2025 | Program Dates: September 2–October 3, 2025

The five-week hybrid residency will engage 12 visual artists whose artistic practice includes land-based themes, environmental sustainability, Indigenous narratives of the land, and/or use of natural materials. Geared towards established Indigenous visual artists, the residency balances self-directed studio time, workshops, presentations, and access to visual arts studios.  


The application fee for each program is $65 ($35 for applicants who identify as Indigenous).
