For the launch of “Les Eternels,” their first high-end perfume collection, the Balmain Beauty brand (The Estée Lauder Companies) has entrusted Groupe Pochet for the production and decoration of the line’s glass bottles.
For this return to the world of perfume, Olivier Rousteing, the Parisian house’s Creative Director since 2011, seeked to pay tribute to the history of Balmain. The collection features eight genderless fragrances that interpret and connect the past, present and future of Balmain. Four eaux de parfum, including “Bronze” and “Rouge”, are new creations, while the other four, such as the “Ivoire” and “Ébène,” are reinventions of historical fragrances.
The French glassmaker has produced the diamond-shaped bottles, which stand out with their elegant and timeless graphic and aesthetic lines. The striations, engraved in the mold from bottom to top, have perfect regularity thanks to a carefully studied repartition on the bottle’s shoulders and the right glass thickness in the corners.
As far as the decoration is concerned, the Groupe Pochet has implemented an innovative metallic lacquering technique for two of the fragrances, “Sel d’Ambre” and “Bronze”. This technique differs from vacuum metallization by creating a subtle metallic effect on the glass. The other references have benefited from transparent lacquering.
The labels required precise hand application, emphasizing the artisanal aspect of this sophisticated creation. A point made complex by the diamond design.
Each bottle is designed to be refillable and recyclable.
The “Les Éternels” collection was launched on September 20 in France and Europe. It is available in selected Balmain boutiques, on balmainbeauty.com and balmainbeauty.eu, as well as in select retail outlets such as Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Selfridges in London and La Rinascente in Milan.
