This summer, Daniel Craig was announced as a new face of Loewe. And he’s in good company: Jamie Dornan, Josh O’Connor, Taylor Russell, and Craig’s Queer costar Drew Starkey are all part of the brand’s all-star line-up.
And Craig’s work at the house hits heavy, because while some very famous dudes will snap a few photos for a few campaigns every few years, the Knives Out star rides hard for the brand on the red carpet. (It helps that Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson designed the costumes for the film Craig is currently promoting, Luca Guadagnino’s Queer.) He wears the wonkier stuff. He wears the slouchier stuff. And as he proved on Thursday in Los Angeles, he wears the sleeker stuff, too.
At Queer‘s LA premiere, the British actor stepped out in another full Loewe banger. Starting from the very top, he slicked his usual art dealer hair all the way back and popped a pair of yellow-tinted sunglasses. He then threw on a clean white tee and layered over a super inflated double-breasted, dove-gray pinstriped blazer.
Featuring a set of glossy black buttons across the front, the piece was fitted with classic peak lapels, relaxed shoulders, and dashed with cream pinstripes. Down south, Craig jumped into some equally baggy trousers, and he finished it all off with the label’s Flow Runner sneakers.
The oversized suit has long been peddled by designers like Giorgio Armani and Ralph Lauren, and worn by everyone from detectives in New York to businessmen in Tokyo. And all this oversized tailoring a huge departure from Craig’s former rotation. Because while his turn as Bond was all about fitting, form-flattering two-pieces (see the Tom Ford suits in Skyfall and Spectre), he’s now doing the complete opposite.
And that’s OK! Daniel Craig doesn’t have to jump across buildings or climb skyscrapers anymore. Instead, he’s hitting the red carpet from the left-field—and it seems he’s having an insane amount of fun doing it.
