Andrew Garfield Keeps Stepping Out in Surprisingly Obscure Kicks

Flower Mountain, the Japanese sneaker label behind some of Andrew Garfield’s best kicks, is an underground sneaker brand that you’ve probably never heard of. Founded in Tokyo in 2015, it’s a name that you really have go out of your way to find.

In London this week, the British actor was spotted wearing a black baseball cap and a massive winter coat. It’s Hollywood but incognito, and a sharp plug-in to the most wonderful time of the menswear year: Big Coat Season. Down south, he jumped into a pair of cuffed navy jeans and some chunky-looking sneakers.

But these aren’t just any ol’ chunky-looking sneakers: These are the Flower Mountain Yamano 3. Inspired by old school hiking boots, the silhouette has long been the go-to shoe for gorpcore gatekeepers the world over. This particular pair is made out of lots of brown leather and lots of brown suede, and it’s decorated with plenty of floral details throughout (because…Flower Mountain). The midsole is crafted from ultra-light rubber, and the insoles are actually cork, which is a nice sustainable touch.

The Spider-Man star’s fit got gorp-ier still with his Ramidus x Carhartt WIP tote bag, which dropped last year as part of the brand’s summer collection, and is fitted with more pockets that you’ll ever need in your entire life. (Which is very Carhartt.)

Want Andrew Garfield’s Flower Mountain Yamano 3 in your collection? Well, we’ve got good news and we’ve got bad news. Good news: They cost around $250. Bad news: The exact colorway he’s wearing is sold out absolutely everywhere, though we managed to find a pristine pair on eBay—and a few riffs on the silhouette elsewhere. Adventure is out there!
